Approach
At Branch we believe in trying to enhance the existing environment through refurbishment and regeneration.
If refurbishment is not possible, then rebuild or extend using recycled materials where possible.
If recycled materials are not possible, think about biophilic materials that are sustainable and replenishable.
In the future, this matrix will hopefully be reversed where we are replacing buildings that are no longer fit for purpose or beyond repair with buildings made wholly from biophilic materials where possible.
It may even be possible to build buildings that are still growing!

Mentoring & Tutoring
From initial site visit to handover, we offer structural design services from foundation to roof. Working in timber, masonry, concrete and steel, we can provide building regulations compliant design reports and details for your project.
If you have an issue with an existing building or looking for advice on what to do next with your project, we are happy to carry out an initial survey of the structure to provide advice. We can provide reports to support an insurance claim for remedial works if necessary or advise on the opportunities to develop for larger assets.
For structural interventions we can provide sensitive design respecting the existing character of the building. Our first response is to retain and re-use existing elements of the building where possible. We are expert in extending properties vertically and horizontally to maximise the existing structure to its potential.
We have extensive experience of complex large scale engineering projects, with international experience and experience of large basements, building over agreements and flood strategies. We are happy to review and advise on your building project on an ad hoc basis or more programmed design reviews for your project and your team.
With experience in construction phase design management, taking a project from detailed design through to on site fabrication, we are able to offer a unique design management service that couples structural design with design for modular assembly knowledge (DFMA). We can also offer this service within the growing Engineered Timber market with knowledge on fire, durability and connection design critical to ensuring the successful delivery of your timber project.
We offer tutoring to University Students and Mentoring of professionals in their career journey. Working in a large team, managing cashflows, people, and projects can be challenging and we offer mentoring to help develop skills across all sectors. Meet Tim
Tim Hoggins is a chartered civil and structural engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry.
His background spans leading large engineering teams on complex engineering projects, offsite manufacturing, and design for modular assembly, with particular experience in the engineered timber sector and refurbishment of existing buildings.
Tim brings a practical, considered approach to each project, with an emphasis on sustainability, buildability, logistics/ procurement, and details coordination.
